Mall space is being repurposed as more department store chains close stores that traditionally served as mall “anchors.” Planet Fitness now occupies the space that once housed Sears. LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A 41-year-old Marquette University man is behind bars for stealing from multiple lockers at the Planet Fitness located at 2380 Cedar Street in Derry Township.
Seven victims reported their locks were cut and their belongings stolen from their lockers, according to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, with one of them telling police their credit card was used at a local store after the theft.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release that deputies responded to the area surrounding the fraudulent activity and were able to find the suspect, who they found at a business in South Lansing.
He is currently being held in the Ingham County Jail awaiting arraignment on several charges, including theft in a building and unlawful use of a financial transaction device.
The Igheman County Sheriff’s Office says this case is a good example of keeping a close eye on financial accounts.
