FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Parkview Health will soon begin the process of ceasing to schedule care for patients whose health plans do not include Parkview as a network or contracted provider.
Parkview Health says the changes will be phased in over several months.
May 1st,
- Parkview Health will no longer schedule ancillary services, such as lab tests and diagnostic imaging, for patients whose insurance does not include Parkview Health in their Parkview Health plan or contract.
- Parkview Health will cease scheduling elective or planned surgeries for patients whose insurance does not include Parkview Health in their plan or contract with Parkview Health.
July 1,
- Parkview Physicians’ clinics will no longer accept new patients with insurance that does not have a contract with Parkview Health. (Parkview Health considers patients new if they have not previously been seen by a health care provider or clinic/specialty group.)
- Current patients with health plans not contracted with Parkview Health can contact their benefits manager or insurance customer service to identify in-network providers and work with Parkview Health providers to provide care. You need to migrate.
January 1, 2025
- Parkview Physicians Group practices only schedule patients with insurance if their plan is in network with Parkview Health.
Regarding this decision, Parkview Health shared the following statement with 21Alive.
Parkview Health says the change will not affect patients seeking emergency care or the uninsured. Adding this will allow you to continue seeing all emergency patients.
Parkview Health sent a letter to patients indicating that the information on file is affected by this change.
