Dr. Alan Croce has more than 20 years of experience in primary care and medical practice management, according to a statement from Nuvance, which operates hospitals in Connecticut and New York, including Danbury Hospital and Norwalk Hospital.
“Dr. Kurose’s leadership will accelerate our digital healthcare efforts, patient and employee experience and quality outcomes,” said Christopher Reilak, M.D., chief physician officer, Nuvance Health Medical Practice. “He brings significant business leadership skills to Nuvance Health and will be a key partner as we drive our growth and medical and specialty care strategies.”
He succeeds Dr. Christopher Lerach, former president and now chief physician officer, and Matt Roy, former COO and now chief administrative and financial officer, according to Robin Scarchili, associate for public and community affairs at Nuvans Health.
Kurose will also serve as interim chair of primary care, according to the statement.
Before joining Nuvance in April, he served as senior vice president of primary care and population health at Lifespan, a Rhode Island-based health system, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Nuvance Health Medical Practice provides services, treatment and primary care within Nuvance Health, Scarchili said.
“I am excited to be part of the Nuvans Health team and appreciate the warm welcome,” Croce said in a Nuvans statement. “The commitment to serving patients and the community at every level of the organization is inspiring. This is a growing, dynamic system that drives excellence in patient care, education and research, as well as a healthy desire to innovate to continue to provide the highest quality care and experience possible to the communities we serve.”
Before becoming part of the Lifespan system in 2021, Kurose also served as president and CEO of Coastal Medical in Rhode Island, where he “led its transformation from a traditional primary care clinic to an innovative, nationally recognized, technology-enabled, data-driven accountable care organization with best-in-class performance in both cost and quality,” according to the statement.
Kurose is scheduled to testify before the U.S. Senate Budget Committee in October 2023 about managing patient care and “a healthier population can reduce health care costs,” according to the statement.
