There’s a reason why many have spoken positively about Sherone Moore’s hiring as head football coach at the University of Michigan.
That’s because he’s great, and while Moore worked for the best coach in the business in Jim Harbaugh, make no mistake, the Wolverines wouldn’t have been able to turn things around without him on the team.
Not many head coaches have the guts to run the ball 32 consecutive times in a top-10 matchup, and Moore did just that, which helped the Wolverines win a national championship.
Moore clearly felt his team could impose its will on Penn State, and they did. It takes a certain toughness, and it starts at practice. Michigan’s workouts have always been notoriously tough on the players, but physically, things have gone to another level now that Moore is Michigan’s head football coach, Kenneth Grant said.

“I think it’s become a lot more physical,” Grant told The Wolverine. “With Sherone Moore, it’s become a lot more physical. We’re playing more football, we’re in more 11-on-11 situations.”
This isn’t a surprise, since Moore is a former offensive lineman. Michigan football players often talk about how the difficulty of practice makes the game easier, and Moore has spoken many times about maintaining that standard.
“You don’t get that by playing with two hands and touching the ball like Ohio State’s spring starter. You get to win at the front line by practicing and battling. I love this approach, and it gives me even more confidence that Sherone Moore is the right person for the job.”
