Cal Thomas

Anyone hoping that ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos’ interview with President Biden would ease growing concerns among Democrats that the president may be mentally unfit to serve another four years in office will surely be disappointed.

When asked repeatedly and in various ways whether he would undergo an independent neurological examination, Biden refused, claiming he was mentally healthy and had been tested and therefore did not need to be tested. “every day” And his test is “Moving the world” The world is in a terrible state with wars and rumors of wars. Will he take responsibility?

Apparently that is not the case.

Things got so bad that the Biden campaign was forced to admit providing eight questions to radio host Andrea Lawfull Sanders. “origin” He spoke on WURD ahead of his interview with the President.

In the interview, Biden inadvertently said: “The first black woman to serve in the White House” In 1988, Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison wrote in The New Yorker that Bill Clinton was the U.S. “First Black President” That’s because he shared life experiences with many black people. That’s what was said about Clinton. He didn’t claim to be from a different background in terms of race or gender.

If Biden’s mental health is healthy and the claims to the contrary are untrue, the quickest way to resolve the issue is to get tested. Failure to do so suggests the president is trying to cover up a serious problem. The New York Post reported that a top Parkinson’s specialist in Washington DC met with the president’s physician earlier this year, according to White House visitor records. What was that all about? Silence from those in the know.

(Editor’s note: The president’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, released the letter late Monday explaining that Dr. Kevin Cannard, who visited the White House eight times between July 2023 and March of this year, is the neurologist who saw Biden for each of the three physicals he has had since taking office in 2021. Dr. O’Connor said Dr. Cannard also treats others in the White House and has served as a neurology consultant to the White House Medical Office since 2012. Some of the documented visits took place when Biden was not in the White House.)

Things are getting even worse as Politico reports that diplomats and world leaders are preparing for the NATO summit this week. “They have privately expressed strong concerns about President Joe Biden’s age, health and ability to win the 2024 presidential election. These foreign officials largely support Biden’s reelection and worry that Donald Trump’s return to the presidency would damage the NATO alliance and cripple the war effort in Ukraine. But they were dismayed by Biden’s performance in the recent debates and worry that Biden may be too weak to defeat Trump and lead the world’s superpower.”

That pretty much sums up the growing concern among Democrats: How long will it be before we see another episode like that in 1974, when a group of Republican senators went to the White House and told President Richard Nixon that he had lost the support of Congress and would be impeached and removed from office?

There are plenty of examples of Biden’s inability to speak coherently. Consider this excerpt from Stephanopoulos’ interview on his debate performance: “All through the process, I prepared, it’s not my fault. It’s not my fault. I prepared, as I always do, to sit down and ask foreign leaders and the National Security Council for details. And along the way, I quoted

The New York Times was 10 points behind me before the debate, and now it’s 9, or I don’t know what. In fact, I looked it up, and he lied 28 times. I couldn’t have done anything about the way the debate was conducted. It’s not my fault, it’s not anybody else’s fault. It’s not anybody else’s fault.”

Not even Google Translate could make it out. And it’s not just a question of his mental health, it’s also a question of his policies, centered around open borders, which according to a recent poll from the Center for Immigration Studies is the top issue for most voters in this election.

“President Biden should, for the sake of his family, himself, and especially the country, immediately undergo an independent cognitive evaluation and make the results public in full. Anything less, or not at all, is unacceptable and puts the country at risk from a President who is increasingly unable to fully fulfill his duties.
