Governor highlights holistic benefits of yoga at Shimla seminar.
Shimla– Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla addressed a seminar at the historic Gaiety Theatre and highlighted the profound significance of Yoga.
Organised by Dev Bhumi Seva Sansthan Ashram, the seminar had the theme ‘Yoga as a Complete Human Philosophy and Yogacharya’ and attracted a wide audience interested in the holistic practice of yoga.
In his address, Governor Shukla emphasised that yoga is more than just physical exercise but offers a profound philosophy that integrates the body, mind and soul.
“Yoga is a holistic practice that aims to achieve a state of balance and peace,” he said, noting that yoga has its origins in ancient India and its importance in promoting physical health, mental clarity, emotional well-being and spiritual fulfillment.
Highlighting the spread of yoga across the world, Shukla lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in popularising International Yoga Day, which was first celebrated on June 21, 2015. Shukla said he hoped that yoga would be embraced as a holistic way of life rather than just a physical practice, fostering a culture of peace and happiness.
The event featured an insightful presentation by keynote speaker Srinivas Murthy who elaborated on the practical benefits of yoga.
Moreover, 10-year-old yoga enthusiast Saksham Thakur from Shagin village mesmerised the audience with his impressive yoga demonstration and received a special commendation from the Governor.
The seminar also featured welcome addresses by Programme Chairman VK Bhatnagar and Dev Bhoomi Seva Sansthan Ashram Chairman Lek Raj Rana, who highlighted ongoing efforts to create awareness of Yoga through 70 Sanskar Shalas across the State.
The event was attended by special guest Rajkumar Varma, Chairman Sai Eternal Foundation, former Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and other eminent personalities and celebrated the incorporation of Yoga in everyday life for holistic growth and social harmony.
