West Hartford Leisure Services will once again be offering yoga in the park through a collaboration with West Hartford Yoga.

Free outdoor yoga has been a popular summer activity in West Hartford for many years, and a collaboration between West Hartford Yoga and the town’s Leisure Services Department is bringing it back in 2024.
Certified WHY instructors will provide an hour of “outdoor bliss” through classes for all levels including yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation, with participants benefiting from improved health and increased energy, as well as the opportunity to “relax with fellow yoga buddies” in beautiful surroundings.
“We love this collaboration because it provides a new way for our community to engage with our parks,” said Helen Rubino Turco, Director of Leisure and Social Services. “For many of us, WHY is a destination for healing, flexibility and stress reduction, and our parks are the perfect place to support this feel-good recreational activity.”
Participants should bring a yoga mat, towel, and water. All ages and abilities are welcome. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Classes are free, but donations are appreciated.
The class schedule and instructors are as follows:
- Tracy Gildea and Chris Printis will perform on Sundays from June 30th through August 18th from 9 to 10 a.m. at Beachland Park.
- Tia Blake and Chris Printis will perform every Wednesday from June 26th through August 14th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Eisenhower Park.
WHY in the Parks will be canceled if it rains or the ground is wet. Please sign up for a cancellation notification email in advance or visit our schedule page. For any other questions, please email us. [email protected].
Free yoga passes will be given away in prize draws throughout the summer, and those who pre-register will be entered into weekly drawings.
