UC San Diego Health has closed negotiations on a potential affiliation agreement with the Tri-City Healthcare District in Oceanside, California.
In late April, the parties confirmed they were still working on an agreement, which was originally scheduled to be completed in March.
UC San Diego Health presented a final revised proposal to Tri-City on July 24, but no agreement was reached, according to a July 26 news release.
The financial recovery and growth plan included in the final proposal included a cash infusion of $100 million over the first two years after the deal and a credit facility to help protect Tri-City’s financial stability for the first five years after the deal.
Under the final proposal, Tri-City’s assets and liabilities would be transferred to UC San Diego Health, and employees would be transferred to UC San Diego Health by the fifth year.
The final proposal included a five-year clinical program expansion plan consisting of comprehensive cancer services, including access to clinical trials and specialty services. Tri-City’s neurology, cardiovascular, behavioral health and pregnancy services would also be included in the plan.
Finally, Tri-City has made infrastructure improvements, made capital investments, and implemented Epic electronic health records.
“UC San Diego Health remains committed to serving the North County community and continues its planned expansion of patient care services,” the release said.
