Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine argued that climate change is “disproportionately impacting” the mental and physical health of Black Americans.
Levine, 66, sparked controversy when she made the remarks during a video lecture aimed at raising health awareness in the black community during Black History Month.
The Biden official, who is transgender, declared that “climate change is having a disproportionate impact on the physical and mental health of Black communities.”
Levine continued, “Black Americans are more likely than white Americans to live in residential areas that are more susceptible to climate-related health problems.”
The video has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), with social media users slamming federal officials for making wild claims about climate change.

Users incorporated laugh soundtracks into their videos to emphasize the similarities between reality and old Saturday Night Live sketches.
The newspaper said, “The ‘leaders’ in charge are not serious people, and our country has gone beyond satire. The rest of the world is certainly laughing at us. ”
Another person disputed Levine’s statement, saying, “I grew up and worked in a predominantly black community.” I have never heard a black person express concern about climate change. ”
The video had been viewed more than 40,000 times as of Friday night, but had only accumulated 58 likes.
Many people expressed disbelief over the video, with one person saying: “I wish this was satire.” It’s real,” adding, “The world is laughing at us.”
One person wrote, “This total pretty much sums up everything happening in America right now.” Good Lord. ”
Levine was appointed a four-star admiral in the Public Health Service, the highest-ranking openly transgender federal employee in the country.
She appeared in an admiral’s uniform in a video collaboration with the Office of Minority Health for an initiative titled “Advancing better health through better understanding of Black communities.”
Levine, who took office in 2011, also presented statistics to back up his argument that environmental issues disproportionately impact black Americans.
“Sixty-five percent of Black Americans report feeling anxious about the effects of climate change,” she said.
“We are working with health care providers and community leaders to identify innovative approaches to help communities address the health impacts associated with climate change,” Levine added. .
Levine has repeatedly sparked controversy by supporting gender-affirming care for minors.
Last August, she praised a gender-affirming care clinic in Alaska, claiming the treatment provided there was “life-saving medical care.”
The Alaska-based company, which she praised, promotes the idea that children should learn that doctors “assign” a baby’s gender by “guessing” it, while also promoting the idea that “gender-inclusive biology” We are also promoting the use of “science”.
Teachers and educators need to tell children that there are only two genders and “without assuming that all people within a particular gender are the same.”
Instead of using the word “mother” in these conversations, she recommends using terms like “egg producer” or “shipper.”
The transgender assistant secretary also said last year that children could experience a “mistaken puberty”.
“Gender-affirming treatment options for transgender youth are truly evidence-based,” Levine said.
She was asked about the possibility of preventing transgender young people from undergoing body modification treatment until they are at least 18 years old.
Levine previously said so-called gender-affirming care for minors is the “best support” from the Biden administration.
