Monmouth County, NJ — Parent/Caregiver Toolkit: A Guide to Navigating Youth Behavioral Health is now available in a new digital edition in Monmouth County, Freehold-based Teen Suicide Prevention Developed by the association.

And the Monmouth launch is just the first step, said Kyle Kullback, a spokesman for the group.

Once funding is available, people in every county in the state will have access to online resources, he said.

Monmouth’s digital resources were funded by an award to SPTS by Impact 100: Jersey Coast, he added.

Kalbach said the Freehold-based society has seen growth in the services it provides, especially during the COVID-19 period when rates of behavioral health issues such as depression and anxiety have increased.

By last year, the association had provided physical toolkit books to every sixth grader in the state under a state-funded initiative, he said. The association also has an online suicide prevention program for educators that is used nationwide, he added.

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) is a public charity founded in 2005 by two Monmouth County fathers who each had the tragic loss of a teenage child to suicide, according to the organization. Ta.

SPTS is a comprehensive program dedicated to raising awareness, saving lives, and reducing the stigma of suicide through specialized training programs and mental health resources that help youth build resilient lives. , the group says. SPTS focuses on comprehensive suicide prevention for youth ages 5 to 18 years.

“The Parent/Caregiver Toolkit contains important information that parents need to know when dealing with their children’s behavioral and mental health issues. “Providing this information will help ease the anxiety and worry that parents and caregivers may be experiencing during this difficult time,” said Susan Terrone, the association’s clinical director.

The new online resource integrates many local, national, and online resources to provide a “one-stop destination for families seeking guidance and support.”

Examples of information provided to parents and carers include:

  • Suicide warning signs.
  • How to have difficult conversations with children.
  • Local support groups, national helplines, or online forums.

“This toolkit contains all the important information you need to keep your children safe. It acts as an information roadmap, so you don’t have to waste extra energy searching for resources online. It eliminates the need for them and streamlines the process of finding the right support,” the group said.

The digital toolkit is available in nine languages and can be accessed on both desktop and mobile devices.

“The SPTS Parent/Caregiver Toolkit helped families navigate difficult times by providing definitions of terms we didn’t know and information about local resources, such as how to access the New Jersey child care system. It also helped reduce anxiety for our families, seeking support for our loved ones,” said the licensed clinical social worker and certified mental health advocate. said Stacy Brief.

And the physical toolkit in digital form has become more accessible.

Individuals interested in accessing the toolkit can do so through this contact form: https://forms.gle/UcUnh3aWu7Dabw3bA. Once the form is deployed, the user receives a code to access the toolkit (monmouthcounty). Users can then visit her SPTStoolkit.org to create an account and get code prompts to access the toolkit.

Follow SPTS on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to stay in the loop.
