GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – Accessing their medical records will soon be easier for patients at one Georgetown County health system.
Tidelands Health, an affiliate of MUSC, announced the implementation of a new electronic medical records system known as “Epic.” We are also introducing a new app called “My Tidelands Health.”
According to the health system, the new system aims to transform health care delivery across the region by streamlining access to health information, improving care coordination between patients and providers, and enhancing care delivery. There is.
A $40 million investment in Epic and related technology will give healthcare providers and patients access to an effective or consistent view of their patients’ health records in one convenient location.
Additionally, since Tidelands Health is an affiliate of MUSC Health in the region, the Tidelands Health Epic platform will integrate with the MUSC Health Epic system.

“So, for example, if you’re a patient, you probably live here six months of the year, and you live in Ohio six months of the year. The idea of electronic health records is; It’s about making that visibility and connectivity as convenient as possible,” Stevens said.
As part of the transition to Epic, Tidelands Health is introducing a new My Tidelands Health app. This app can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play Store.

“What I would ask and say to patients is, please be patient. This is a big change. I mean, literally, only the key aspects of how our team members do their jobs have changed. “It’s a big improvement, but it’s a change so it might slow you down a little bit as you get used to it,” Stevens said.
Tidelands currently has multiple systems in place, making it difficult for patients and medical team members to quickly, easily, and conveniently access medical information in the same place.
The move to Epic and the ability for patients to access MyChart through the My Tidelands app will all take place on March 2nd.
