Game Science’s highly anticipated action-adventure title Black Myth: Wukong will be released in a physical edition without a disc. Instead, players who purchase the physical edition will be given a code for the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Distribution challenges
Game Science cites distribution issues as the main reason for this decision: the studio’s lack of experience with global logistics and offline resources has caused issues producing and distributing a physical disc. In a FAQ on their official website, the developer explains that they are working on resolving these issues and may offer a physical disc in the future.
Physical Edition Details

The Deluxe Edition of Black Myth: Wukong will cost $169, while the Collector’s Edition will cost $399. Both editions come with a variety of extras, including a SteelCase. The Collector’s Edition also comes with a Confront Destiny figure of the game’s protagonist.
Game releases and delays
Black Myth: Wukong is set to release on August 20 for PC and PS5. However, the Xbox Series X/S version has been delayed for further optimization. Despite these obstacles, expectations for the game remain high, as it is the most wishlisted game on Steam.
The decision to exclude physical discs from the initial release highlights the challenges new developers face when dealing with the logistics of a AAA title.
