CHICAGO — The mother of a Chicago woman who went missing in the Bahamas last week while attending a yoga retreat said she is “deeply concerned” about her daughter’s disappearance in the Caribbean nation.
Taylor Casey, 41, was last seen at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Paradise Island in the Bahamas on June 19, her family said. The Royal Bahamas Police Force issued a missing persons poster on June 21 to inform the public of Casey’s disappearance.
Her mother, Colette Seymour, was due to travel with others to Paradise Island and the Bahamian capital, Nassau, on Tuesday to meet with local authorities.
“We are deeply concerned about Taylor’s safety and well-being,” she said.
“We believe Taylor is at risk because she wanted to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return. Taylor would never disappear like this,” she added in the news release.
Casey has practiced yoga for 15 years and was looking forward to returning to Chicago from the retreat to “share her newfound knowledge and experiences with others,” the news release said.
The Associated Press sent an email to the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Tuesday seeking comment on Casey’s disappearance.
Her family are calling for anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward, saying “every lead is important in helping us find her.”
Casey is described as a black woman, approximately 5 feet 10 inches (1.77 meters) tall, weighing 145 pounds (65 kilograms), with brown hair, brown eyes and light skin.
