He explains that by choosing to reset on Sunday, you can spend Saturday socializing and start the new week without chores on your mind. “There’s nothing worse than starting a new week with a long to-do list.”

This Sunday tidying will help you sleep for several reasons. First, you won’t lie awake stressing about all the cleaning you had planned to do over the weekend but never got around to. Plus, those fresh sheets themselves might help you feel calmer. “Research from the National Sleep Foundation shows that people sleep better when their bedrooms are comfortable and tidy,” Martin explains. “Starting each week with a fresh, clean bedroom will improve your sleep quality.”

“You need to get the best rest before the start of the week without disrupting your circadian rhythm. Any disruption can cause sleep disturbances and affect cognitive function,” says Martin. By completing a Sunday reset, you can set yourself up for a more productive Monday and a better week overall.

And the good news is, your Sunday refresh starts with the simplest step: letting your mattress breathe. “At least once a week, put some air back into your mattress by putting the bedding back on,” says Martin. “This gives the mattress a chance to return to its original shape while allowing excess moisture to evaporate.”
