Lusby, Maryland – Southern Pines Senior Center proudly announces the opening of a newly renovated fitness room aimed at promoting healthy aging and addressing the critical need for accessible fitness options for Calvert County’s seniors. The Calvert County Office on Aging urges residents age 50 and older to take full advantage of this resource that fosters a community where seniors can enjoy a quality of life characterized by vitality and independence.
Tailored to meet the unique needs of seniors, the fitness room features equipment focused on mobility, balance, and strength. This free amenity highlights the County’s commitment to supporting the well-being of our senior residents and encouraging them to live active, healthy lives.
“We are excited to be able to offer dedicated fitness spaces and supportive health and fitness programs to our senior community at all three senior centers,” said Community Resources Director Jennifer Moreland. “This is an important step toward our goal of ensuring all Calvert County residents have the opportunity to maintain their physical health, independence, and quality of life as they age.”
New users will register for a mandatory one-time orientation to learn how to use the fitness room safely. All senior centers in the county offer a wide range of services, including specialized fitness classes. These services are designed to accommodate seniors of varying fitness levels, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience for everyone.
