In 2019, Caitlin Armstrong, a Midwest-born, Bali-trained yoga instructor, met for the first time the man she thought she’d spend the rest of her life with: professional cyclist Colin Strickland.
When she began training as a cyclist so that she could spend weekends on the road with her new boyfriend, it seemed like nothing could stand in the way of this happy couple.
Eventually, a year later, Armstrong and Collin bought their first home and started living together, just as the coronavirus pandemic hit the US.
What began as a blessing in disguise soon turned into one riddled with jealousy.
Then, in 2021, the couple began describing themselves as “on and off.”
During this time, Colin Strickland met fellow cycling enthusiast Anna Moria Wilson, and the new pair reportedly became romantically involved during Strickland’s break from romance with Armstrong.

Colin later reconciled with his ex-wife, but wanted to remain friends with Anna without Armstrong’s knowledge, and allegedly saved her as a contact in his mobile phone under a different name.
According to a friend of the couple who later testified in court, when asked how he would react if Collin had seen someone else during the break, Armstrong replied, “I’d kill him.”
The friend claimed she had no idea at the time how seriously the yoga teacher had taken the impromptu claim.
On May 11, 2022, Anna Wilson was found dead in a pool of her own blood.
Investigators later discovered that Armstrong had used the Strava app to track down Collin meeting Anna at a friend’s house nearby.
After the pair separated at about 8.30pm and Colin returned home, CCTV showed Armstrong driving to Anna’s home in a black jeep, where she was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds about an hour later.

Armstrong flees from police
Police used an outstanding warrant for theft to search Armstrong’s property and found a gun that matched shell casings found at the crime scene.
However, hours later, Armstrong correctly pointed out that her date of birth had been incorrectly recorded on the search warrant, rendering the find invalid.
The next day, the jealous killer, learning that the police were pursuing her, sold her Jeep to a local dealer and boarded a flight to Costa Rica using her sister’s passport.
By the time he reached Central America, Armstrong had hatched an even more sinister plan to evade capture.
Within hours of landing, the killer allegedly completely transformed his appearance by cutting and dyeing his red hair and undergoing $6,000 in plastic surgery, including lip fillers, a rhinoplasty and an eyebrow lift.

Armstrong’s arrest
She also wanted to use a new alias, Allison Page, but authorities tried to lure her out by advertising a yoga teacher position in the area where she was hiding out. Thankfully, it worked.
Armstrong was arrested on June 29, just one month after committing the crime, and extradited to the United States.
But during a medical appointment before appearing before a judge, she again tried to flee, fleeing officers while handcuffed and being pursued 10 minutes later.
In the ensuing trial, she was charged with first-degree murder and unlawful flight to evade prosecution and sentenced to 90 years in prison.
