SGMC Health recognized Patient Care Coordinator Brett Richardson, RN, as February’s Health System Hero at its monthly board meeting. Richardson was recognized as the ultimate team player, safety advocate and leader in his role.
Mr. Richardson has been with the health system for more than nine years, serving both the Berean and Lanier campuses. Additionally, he promotes and implements high reliability principles within the healthcare system as his HRO Champion and advocates for safety, quality and continuous improvement.
He was nominated by colleagues from various departments, each of whom shared their own experiences about his value to the organization. One candidate described him as a “jack-of-all-trades” who carried out his duties “always with a big smile and kind words.” In this article, Richardson shared how she regularly works shifts in the emergency department and takes on additional duties such as training staff and managing supplies.
Director of Nursing Audrey Bradford said how Richardson helps all departments because she is knowledgeable and approachable.
“No matter how much he has on his plate, he makes time to talk to his staff and get them involved in process changes as they occur,” she says. “We always say we want to make a difference in the lives of our patients and employees, and we believe Brett will make a difference in the lives of our communities, colleagues and patients.”
Richardson received a standing ovation from those in attendance.
