If you stumble upon Riverdale Physical Therapy, located on the lower level of 2735 Henry Hudson Parkway, you’re in for a treat, either through a recommendation or a simple Google search. You will be welcomed by reception staff, then treated by a physical therapist who will create a care plan tailored to resolve your symptoms. Although the walls have been repainted and the spaces reconfigured, there’s something nostalgic about this office. And that’s intentional.
Physical therapist Jerrold Mann founded the practice 50 years ago and continued his practice for 63 years, bringing physical therapy to the Riverdale community. In his years of practice, he not only treated the whole person, but his entire family as well. Patients trusted him with their loved ones.
Thirty years ago, Marcella Prado PT joined us as a partner and founded Riverdale Physical Therapy. With 40 years of clinical experience, she is the most experienced physical therapist in the Riverdale area. She continues her practice to this day with a dedicated group of patients.

As the time approaches to sell the practice in 2023, the Manns will maintain the legacy they built: a hands-on, unique, and above all human approach to care that is tailored to each patient’s needs. I paid attention to that. With these ideals in mind, the talented Gleb Kartsev DPT.
Doctor of Physical Therapy (co-partners Yehuda Daniel DPT and Artem Kobyazin DPT of Hudson Physical Therapy, 2600 Holland Avenue) were selected to advance the practice.
We spoke with Mann, Prado and Kartsev. Mr Mann said: “I love the interaction between myself and my patients. And it’s not just about providing the care they received. At the end of the day, it’s about knowing that you’re really helping someone.” At the same time, I feel like Gleb does the same thing, but it’s also a matter of the environment and the pleasure you bring. People come to us with pain and other problems. And the load If we can reduce that, that’s very important. We’re not just dealing with pain, we’re dealing with a lot of other things.”
Dr. Prado said, “We still have patients that we treated as children. We’ve built a diverse community, and I think Gleb continues that. People come here, but robots… You’re not going to be treated like that. They’ll go somewhere else, and after about five or 10 minutes, you’re gone. That doesn’t happen here.”
Kartsev adds, “We recognize the physical needs and also look at what’s going on inside the person. Sometimes there are issues that don’t come to the surface that can actually affect the patient’s healing progress.” When you work with someone and gain their trust, they open up to you and you see them get better faster. That means you’re not just manually The environment is very important, which is one of the reasons why we have a combination of single rooms and gyms, because different people have different comfort approaches and different settings. ”
Prado continued, “When you work with someone, there’s a lot of confidence. It’s a type of trust. We wanted to ensure a succession. We wanted someone with the skills and energy to carry on our work for the next 30 years. It’s a new generation. We’re talking about Gleb, And he already knew how to work with people, so that’s why we chose him.”
Office Manager Audrey Breyer was very appreciative of the continuity of the transition. She started working at this office in her 2021 year and is a familiar face, making it a smooth experience for patients transferring to Gleb-Her Kartsev. Her people trust her and rely on her.
“Having worked in this office before and after the changes, I have seen what our patients need and what is most important to them. Gleb has conveyed that to many of our long-time patients. were comfortable switching to Gleb because they liked his sense of humor and the continuation of the “hands-on” manual approach they were accustomed to. This is the kind of personalized care you won’t find anywhere else,” Bleier said.
Mann explained: “We are very pleased that Gleb will continue Riverdale’s 50-plus year legacy into the future. Patients who have moved from nearby areas are often referred back to other physical therapy clinics because of poor treatment. And it’s happening to people more and more. There are a lot of physical therapists who just put people on machines. This is one of the many reasons why I think Gleb is a good choice. . Because his approach is very similar to ours. He’s the right person.”
Mr. Kartsev concluded: Not everyone can build something as honestly, professionally, and personally as they can. I have personal responsibility for it. I want it to continue to live on. I’m sure many of you remember it. So many people have been helped so much by that and will continue to be helped by having Marcela here. I plan to put up the painting, frame it, and hang it on the wall. The most important thing is that we continue our work. And we do everything we can to honor that heritage. ”
