PINEVILLE, N.C. — A plumbing leak on the fourth floor of Atrium Health in Pineville flooded areas of the hospital early Thursday morning.
Hospital officials said patients in the affected areas were being moved to other parts of the hospital, and some patients on lower floors were also moved as a precaution.
The hospital said some critical care patients were transferred to other nearby Atrium Health facilities as a precaution.
Atrium Health addressed the issue in a statement:
Hospital officials also announced that all elective surgeries scheduled for Thursday have been canceled and those patients have been notified.

“We would like to thank our teammates who have worked tirelessly to ensure patient comfort and safety, as well as those who have been called upon to identify and resolve issues and are now working to restore operations. We are working to repair the damage and are taking additional precautions to ensure these areas are safe for patients before anyone is returned to these locations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our patients and their guests.”
