One of my favorite things to do is read, and when I’m not reading, I’m buying books. Over the past few weeks, I’ve added a lot of books to my physical TBR. We thought there was no better way to start off our first articles of the semester than by sharing them.
Ever since I recently read Powerless, I’ve been hooked on fantasy. So if you want recommendations for new fantasy books, this is the right place, since most of the books on my boyfriend’s TBR are fantasy books.
Since the start of spring semester, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, struggling to find the time and motivation to read. So I hope this can motivate me and others to finally start reading that book. We all love to read.
Without further explanation, here are the new additions to my physical TBR.
- Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
- “Belladonna” by Adalyn Grace
- “Poppy Wars” by RF Kuang
- “Rejecting the Night” by Brigid Kemmerer
- “Check & Mate” by Ali Hazlewood
- “It Happens at Midnight” by KL Walther
Most of the books listed above are the first books in a series. For example, the sequel to “Divine Rivals” was released last month, and his third book in the “Defy the Night” series was also published. I love reading. Because you can read about the same characters over and over again. If anyone is looking for a new series, the first four of his books I listed would all be great options.
As I mentioned before, the last book I read was “Powerless” by Lauren Roberts, so I wanted to share my opinion about it. I picked up this book because I noticed some similarities with one of his favorite series of mine, “The Hunger Games.” “Powerless” exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait for the sequel to be released in July.
The story follows a forbidden romance between two characters, Paedyn and Kai. Paydin is ordinary, meaning he has no special abilities that he must keep hidden in order to survive. Prince Kai is the son of the king and the royal executioner, and is exactly the kind of person who is trying to find a commoner like Pei Ding. I’m obsessed with everything about this book. The characters are all so well written and I already have such an emotional attachment to them all. I highly recommend this book to all fantasy romance fans.
