CROSS LAKE — Gail Mueller will host Make It OK on Sunday, March 10 from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at Log Church in Cross Lake.
The Make It OK campaign aims to encourage people to talk more openly about mental illness and seek help.
The latest Crow Wing County Community Health Survey found that more than one in four Crow Wing County adults experience mental illness. Most people wait an average of 10 years to receive treatment, and this is largely due to stigma.
By talking about mental illness and what we can do to make it okay, we can change our minds about misconceptions about mental illness.
To learn more about reducing bias, check out the Make It OK presentation. Once we start talking about it, we discover that mental illness is more common than we think, and that it’s something we can relate to. And more importantly, people with mental illness will be treated with respect and acceptance, and more likely to receive the care they need.
Make It OK is a community campaign to increase understanding of mental illness and reduce stigma by creating compassionate conversations.
