The Youth Wellness Initiative (YWI), a local student-led project committed to “better understanding the mental health needs of high school students across the region,” has partnered with Interlochen Public Radio (IPR) to publish an original started a podcast series. His five-episode series, called “Re:Frame of Mind,” is currently live and available on the IPR website, as well as on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or other podcast platforms.
In the podcast, YWI students interview various stakeholders across the region about youth mental health. For example, the first episode features conversations with advanced grief recovery experts and school biology teachers about the importance of mental health education, and the second episode features conversations with YWI members about the stressors of high school life. It depicts a conversation with a mate. Episodes are 20-40 minutes long.
Convened and sponsored by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation (GTRCF) and funded by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, YWI surveyed students across the five-county region about mental health challenges and supports.
