Karan and Kangana have been at odds since 2017, when Kangana called him a “flag bearer of nepotism” on talk show “Koffee with Karan”. Over the years, Kangana has frequently criticised Karan for fostering nepotism in the film industry and has also referred to him as the “film mafia” on multiple occasions.

Based on a complaint filed by the CISF, Mohali police registered an FIR against Kulwinder Kaur under Sections 323 (intentionally causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code.
