This month, Isha Foundation has conducted over 1,400 free yoga sessions across the country. Of the 160,000 participants, 8,000 took part in around 50 sessions this week across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Goa. These sessions were conducted through online webinars, in-person events or a unique 21-day challenge on the Sadhguru app. All these sessions were conducted in the run up to International Day of Yoga.
Children at the school learned Nada Yoga (sound yoga) and Yoga Namaskar, while adults also learned Nadi Shuddhi, which calms the mind and enhances one’s ability to act effectively. Nada Yoga is a 10-minute guided yoga routine that balances the whole body and helps reduce anxiety, fear, nightmares, frequent illnesses and attention deficit disorder. Yoga Namaskar is a complete 10-minute yoga for beginners that stretches and strengthens the back. All these practices are free and can be learned online.
Some of the prominent companies where these sessions were conducted include AU Bank, Aditya Birla Healthcare, L&T Tech Services, Pidilite, Bank of Baroda, Piramal Pharma, Glenmark, Schneider, Hoya, IPCA Laboratories, Hiranandani etc. Around 1,500 students from Mt. Carmel High School and Samskriti School, Pune and over 650 students from Ekaynaa School, Indore participated in the various sessions.
Similarly, eminent agencies like ISRO, Indian Oil Corporation, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Foxconn, CRPF soldiers, NCC cadets, soldiers, Madras Sappers, BSF and local villagers participated in the sessions held across the country.
