Time-restricted eating, also known as intermittent fasting, may help people with type 2 diabetes lose weight and control blood sugar levels, according to a new study published in JAMA Network Open by researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago. It is said that there is.

Participants who only ate during an eight-hour period between noon and 8 p.m. each day actually lost more weight over six months than participants who were instructed to reduce their calorie intake by 25%. Varady, who is also a member of the University of Illinois Cancer Center, said the study was small and needs to be followed up with a larger study. This serves as a proof of concept that time-restricted eating is safe for people with type 2 diabetes, but diabetics should consult their doctor before starting this type of diet, Varady said. said.
