On Friday, June 14, 2024, Director General of the General Directorate of Customs (AGD), Julssen Edouard, informed economic activists, licensed customs brokers, importers of goods, heads of customs offices, all customs officials and the general public that, as part of the implementation of the AGD modernization program, the “Visit Report” module will be introduced, designed to automate customs procedures, with a view to, among other things, speeding up customs procedures and increasing the transparency of customs management operations. Physical verification reports for imported goods will be operational in the Automated Customs Clearance System (ASYCUDA WORLD) from Monday, June 17, 2024.
The “Visit Report” module will enable customs declarants of imported goods, particularly approved customs brokers, to view physical verification reports of their imported goods in ASYCUDA WORLD and ensure traceability of these reports, if required.
“AGD will inform the Commissioner of Customs […] All imports from the United States, except diplomatic parcels, are required to undergo physical inspection of the goods in accordance with the provisions of Article 109, paragraph 1 of the Customs Act of March 12, 2023, which provides that “after recording a detailed declaration, the Customs Service may, if it deems it beneficial, inspect all or part of the declared goods.”
