The Vadodara police are investigating a complaint filed by Archana Makwana, a Vadodara-based fashion designer, who allegedly received death threats after a photo of her performing ‘Sirsasan’ (handstand) at the Golden Temple on June 21, International Yoga Day, went viral, officials said.
Makwana has alleged that she has received death threats from unidentified persons through emails, WhatsApp and Instagram and has sought details of the mobile numbers used to make the threats, officials said. Vadodara city police are providing her round-the-clock guard.

In her video statement, she urged the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to withdraw the complaint against her for hurting religious sentiments with her post. An FIR was registered on Wednesday.
Inspector DV Vardhanya (Kaleribag) told The Indian Express, “We have sought the CDR file of the mobile number which sent the threatening message to the caller from the operator. We have also sought technical details of the threatening message received by the caller… Further investigation is underway… Makwana is receiving 24×7 police protection…”
