The free health fair hopes to provide communities with access to basic medical care that they don’t always have access to.
The Augusta Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., in partnership with the Richmond County School System and the nonprofit Medical Associates Plus Community Health Center, is sponsoring a Community Health and Wellness Expo to promote “community health promotion and prevention awareness. promotes physical, mental and social well-being,” the branch said in a statement.
“Together, the Augusta Alumni Association and Medical Associates Plus aim to promote the well-being of our communities and foster a culture of holistic health. This partnership will provide individuals with valuable resources for a healthier future. It reflects our commitment to giving,” said chapter president Lulelia Hardy.

Everyone is invited. The chapter said the expo will feature medical exams and wellness sessions where people can “learn about the prevention and treatment of common chronic diseases, physical and mental health care agencies, and other social services organizations.”
The event will also feature local vendors, food trucks, giveaways and a voter registration location.
The exhibit will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the AR Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School gymnasium, 1324 Laney-Walker Blvd.
