Glendale, Arizona (CBS) – The Chicago White Sox are looking to move on from last year’s disappointing season, as well as pitcher Michael Kopech, who will be pitching out of the bullpen.
Kopech lost that in his second season as a starter, and “it” was his control. He led the league in walks en route to a career-high 5.43 ERA, but considers himself a clean slate this spring.
“The main focus is on getting healthy,” Kopec said. “The last few years I’ve been trying to sort out some things and create some good movement patterns for myself, so I’ve been really struggling. I’ve been trying to fine-tune my repertoire and do as much as I can. We’re trying to make sure we have the best’ available. ”
Kopech said he and his teammate have injuries on their shoulders. The 27-year-old was confident he could earn a spot in the rotation and look like his 2022 self.
“I don’t think much is expected of us. I think that puts a strain on all of our shoulders,” he said. “I think we know what we’re capable of as individuals and as a clubhouse, and I think we can produce a lot more than people realize.”
When asked about the number of open rotation spots next to Dylan Cies. Newly signed Eric Fedecoach Pedro Grifol said it was too early to make such a decision.
