How common are infertility issues?
It is estimated that one in seven heterosexual couples in the UK are affected by infertility. In many cases, the cause is unknown, and about a quarter of cases are defined as unexplained infertility. However, problems with the regulation of reproductive hormones can lead to ovulation disorders, which is a common cause of fertility problems in women. Testing for these hormones can help you understand potential causes of fertility problems, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and primary ovarian insufficiency.
What does Randox Health fertility testing involve?
The Fertility Health package includes a series of tests designed to better understand some of the key factors related to women’s reproductive health. Fertility health includes testing for thyroid hormone levels, which are key hormones involved in regulating the menstrual cycle and reproductive function, as well as those that can affect fertility. This package also includes an anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) test to help assess ovarian reserve. In addition, the package includes a complete blood count and nutritional status markers such as iron, folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin D as an indicator of general health status and to identify signs of anemia.
What conditions can the Randox Health Women’s Health Test screen for?
Randox Health offers a variety of health checks that target important aspects of women’s health. In addition to identifying conditions that can affect fertility, such as PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, and low ovarian reserve, our wide range of tests can help support all aspects of your health. Examples of conditions Randox Health can detect include iron deficiency anemia, hemochromatosis, inflammation, diabetes and metabolic syndrome, heart disease, liver damage, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and autoimmune diseases.
Will anti-Mullerian hormone tell me how many eggs I have left?
Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) provides valuable information about ovarian reserve, but it cannot tell you the number of viable eggs or predict your chances of pregnancy. AMH is produced by follicular development. As women age, the number of follicles decreases and AMH levels decrease. A low AMH indicates a decreased ovarian reserve, meaning fewer eggs are available. Higher AMH levels indicate greater ovarian reserve. However, high levels can also occur in women with PCOS. Measuring AMH is particularly useful for women considering fertility treatments, as it can help identify women who are under-responsive (low AMH) and over-responsive (high AMH) to ovarian stimulation. Helpful.
