Bryson DeChambeau’s injury history
DeChambeau’s pain in his right hip is the latest in a string of injuries that have plagued him since he turned pro in 2016.
He’s not opposed to playing through injuries, as he showed in the third round of the U.S. Open, when DeChambeau called for physical therapy after the 10th hole and returned with a birdie on the 11th hole.
The LIV golfer admitted that he was bothered by injuries to his left hand and left hip and would not be able to perform at 100% during the 2022 season. He suffered a fine fracture in the palm of his left hand and a torn labrum in his left hip.
“Right now I’m probably at about 80 percent,” DeChambeau told Sports Illustrated. “I can’t go all out. I can’t do speed training. I can’t practice for long periods of time to figure things out.”
He ultimately opted to have wrist surgery in April 2022, a few months after the hand pain began. He had been dealing with left hip pain for more than two years leading up to the 2022 season.
