Documentary: Ending Stigma in the Black Community, Mental Health
NorthJersey.com’s new documentary, “Ending the Stigma,” looks at mental health and suicide prevention in the Black community.
Legacy Academy of Excellence and NAMI Richland County will host the second annual Black Mental Health & Wellness Symposium on June 19 from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at the Academy, 215 N. Trimble Road.

The symposium will address mental health challenges in the Black community and support for those affected, as well as those supporting loved ones living with mental illness and trying to break the school-to-prison cycle.
In partnership with Mansfield UMADAOP, North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Mansfield/Richland County Public Library and Richland County Child Welfare Services, this free event will include dinner, activities and celebrations for the whole family. Doors will open for a welcome reception at 2:30 p.m., and the symposium will begin with dinner and activities at 3 p.m.

The symposium was sponsored through a grant from Richland County and the Ohio Department of Health in an effort to expand health and wellness services.
