Jamestown Revival, Friday, 7:30 p.m., Belly Up Aspen

Jamestown Resurrection is an internationally acclaimed Americana/roots rock band from Austin, Texas who affectionately describe their music as “Southern & Garfunkel.”
Their latest album, Young Man, is the band’s first without electric guitars and their first to be recorded in a studio. The album explores themes of coming of age and finding one’s identity and was produced by Robert Ellis and Josh Block (Leon Bridges, Caamp).
The band has performed at renowned music festivals such as Farm Aid, Coachella, Stagecoach, Lollapalooza, Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic and Austin City Limits, been featured in publications ranging from Rolling Stone to The Wall Street Journal, and performed and toured with the likes of Zac Brown Band, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ryan Bingham and Willie Nelson.
Aspen Music Festival and School Presents Rene Fleming, Sunday 4pm, Klein Music Tent

Get ready for orchestral and vocal magic when 2023 Kennedy Center Honors recipient Renée Fleming performs world premieres of Richard Strauss’s songs and Alan Fletcher’s compositions. It is said that Strauss had a lifelong love of the soprano voice. His wife Pauline, a famous soprano at the time, no doubt inspired him. The music he wrote for sopranos fully showcases the talents of the soprano voice, and some of his most memorable operatic roles are for soprano voices. Renée Fleming has long had an extraordinary affinity for his music, creating unforgettable heroines on the operatic stage. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear her sing some of Strauss’s most sensual and moving orchestral compositions.
Another sonic feast concludes the program: additional brass playing on the lawn brings new excitement to Respighi’s “Pines of Rome,” a work famous for being one of the first to use electronic sounds, specifically the recording of a nightingale at the end of the third movement; Respighi is said to have recorded the bird himself.
As the Aspen Festival Orchestra celebrates its 75th anniversary season, experience the extraordinary artistry of Renée Fleming and the work of one of the greatest orchestral conductors of all time.
