Richard Simmons‘ A long-time housekeeper Teresa Rebeles Having spent the last 40 years of the fitness guru’s life under his care and been extremely close to him during that time, she has a theory about what caused his death.

As we reported earlier this month, the New Orleans-born fitness star passed away at his Hollywood Hills home, one day after his 76th birthday. His death was completely unexpected and met with surprise from the media and the public. The fact that Richard lived a very reclusive life in his later years made his passing all the more shocking. And now his housekeeper is speaking out about it.

RELATED: Richard’s final interview just two days before his death featured some truly poignant final words

In a new interview people On Monday, Reveles, who first started working at Simmons’ house in 1986, offered a theory about what may have caused the fitness expert’s death. She was the one who discovered Richard’s body that morning, and when she found him, she noticed something odd: His hands were clenched into fists. Reveles told the publication that she thinks that means he had suffered a heart attack.

“That’s how I know it was a heart attack. When I had a heart attack a few years ago, my hand had the same attack.”

The official cause of death was do not have Toxicology test results are still pending, so Reveles’ theory is just that, a theory. Still, she tried to convey optimism amid the tragedy, noting that Simmons seemed “at peace” when she found him and that she hopes he “died happy.” And we hope so too…

Elsewhere in the interview, Theresa described herself as Simmons’ “mate” and claimed that Richard had predicted decades ago that the pair would be together for the rest of their lives.

“[Simmons said] “Teresa, come in. You’re never leaving. We’re going to be together until the day I die.’ And guess what? His dream came true. And somehow he knew it.”

She also people As previously reported, Simmons fell in the bathroom on his birthday, July 12, but refused to go to the hospital because he didn’t want to spend his birthday in a hospital. Teresa asked him at the time if he would take him in for an examination, to which he replied:

“Let’s wait and try in the morning.”

As for what happened a few hours later after that conversation, she added ruefully:

“But it was too late in the morning.”

so sad…

Well, there’s more to come about Teresa and Richard’s relationship. You know, on the podcast. Richard Simmons is missing The show, which debuted in early 2017, sought to explore why Simmons had disappeared from the public eye. During the podcast, a longtime friend of the fitness guru claimed that Rebeles was to blame for Simmons’ actions. He said that caregivers had begun to control Richard’s life, isolating him from friends, family, and diehard fans.

In one episode of the podcast in spring 2017, Simmons’ friend Mauro Oliveira He claimed he had visited Richard’s house to try to find out where Star had disappeared to, and that’s when he encountered a disturbing situation involving Rebeles.

“I went into his house at 6 p.m. He was sitting in the living room, very weak, both physically and mentally. He was shaking. He said, ‘Mauro, I called you here because I don’t want to see you anymore. I’m going to stay here.’ I thought the worst. I thought the worst was going to happen. I thought he was going to kill himself. … She [Teresa] When she found out I was in the house, she started screaming like a witch, ‘No, no, get out! I don’t want him here!’ Richard looked at me and said, ‘You have to get out.’ I said, ‘Really? Is she controlling your life?’ And he said, ‘Yes, you have to get out.'”

Creepy, right? But Oliveira certainly has a story. Richard Simmons is missing When it was released, the show became a talking point among pop culture conspiracy theorists across the country, but Richard’s family never agreed. people On Monday, the brother of the late fitness guru Lenny He said about Rebeles:

“Theresa was very loyal and trustworthy. She loved her brother and he loved her. We are so blessed to have had Theresa in our lives.”

We sympathize with Teresa for the loss of her longtime employer and friend, and we also sympathize with her for being the person who discovered his body that fateful mid-July morning.

RIP
