In her latest Instagram post, Deepika shared some tips on her self-care routine with her fans. She captioned the post, “I love a good workout. I don’t work out to ‘look good’, I work out to ‘feel healthy’. Exercise has been a part of my lifestyle for as long as I can remember.”

But when you can’t find time to exercise, practice this simple 5-minute routine. Do this every day, whether you exercise or not. It’s especially helpful after a long flight or when you just want to de-stress. Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-The-Wall Pose) In Sanskrit, viparita means “inversion” and karani translates to “in action.” This active inversion posture is also known as restful inversion.

Lying with your feet against a wall has positive effects on your mental and physical health. From calming your nervous system to strengthening your immune system, this ancient posture has many benefits, especially in today’s busy and stressful world.

Before waking up/starting the day:

– Supports the lymphatic and glymphatic systems and boosts immunity.

– Increases the flow of oxygenated blood to the upper body and stimulates lymphatic flow.

– Aids in detoxification and lymphatic drainage.

– Gently open your hips and hamstrings.

Relaxation/Before Bed:

– Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting rest and digestion for better quality sleep.

– Relieves restless legs and improves sleep quality.

If you are pregnant (use a bolster or cushion for support):

– Relieves muscle and joint pain, and swelling in the ankles and feet.

– Reduces pressure on the lower back, relieving heaviness and fatigue in the legs and lower back.

– Reduces fluid retention.

– Reduces swelling and discomfort in the ankles and feet.

Who shouldn’t do this?

– People with glaucoma.

– People with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Please consult with your yoga instructor before performing these asanas. I hope today’s post was helpful. Stay tuned for more of my simple self-care practices! (sic)”
