(NewsNation) — Nearly two weeks after Chicago resident Taylor Casey went missing from a yoga retreat in the Bahamas, her family says investigators have not provided any new information in her case.
“There’s been no news or information as to where Taylor is or where she may have been,” Casey’s mother, Collette Seymour, said during an appearance on NewsNation Now.
Casey has not been seen since the evening of June 19, when she disappeared from a yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, where she was taking classes to become a yoga instructor.
Casey’s family, including her mother, traveled to the Bahamas after her disappearance and then returned to Chicago, but Seymour said she hasn’t heard any updates since then.
“Since I got back to the States, nothing has happened. I haven’t heard from anyone. I don’t know if the FBI is involved. I heard someone say that, but I don’t think that’s what’s happening,” Seymour said. “It’s very hard to get on a plane and come back without my kids. It’s very hard and I don’t have any answers.”
“I think the investigative team, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, have done the bare minimum,” Seymour added.
The search for Casey stepped up on Thursday, with police dogs joining the search, as authorities hope to detect the yoga enthusiast’s scent.
The hideout is so large and remote that local police have begun using drone technology to search for traces of the hideout on the western tip of Paradise Island.
Casey, 41, had visited Paradise Island out of an interest in yoga and was also on the trip to gain additional certification.
In an emotional interview, Seymour spoke directly to her daughter, saying: “I believe in my heart that you are alive. Please contact us. We love you and we miss you and we want you to come home with us.”
