Rehoboth Beach-based SoDel Concepts recently launched SoDel Well, a fitness program that helps employees create healthy habits, manage stress and improve overall well-being.
More than 100 participants per week take the class, which is held six days a week from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to SoDel Concepts restaurants, they also work at Highwater Management, Surf Bagel and Southern Delaware Brewing.
“It’s no secret that the hospitality industry is physically demanding,” said Scott Kammerer, CEO of SoDel Concepts. “We are dedicated to improving the lives of our team members, and this includes providing them with the skills and education they need to succeed. Wellness is also an essential component.”
The company has hired personal trainer Hansel Fuller as director of wellness.
“Mental and physical fitness are extremely important in all aspects of life, including business and home,” Fuller said. “Collaborating with colleagues creates a sense of teamwork and helps strengthen company culture. It’s really motivating.”
Meghan King, director of training at SoDel Concepts, agreed. “Hans made it easy to get started. He makes fitness fun and approachable,” she said. “I’m already so much stronger and have more energy.”
The program has a downloadable app that allows users to view training schedules and sign up for classes at the Rehoboth Beach Barbell Club, located on Route 1 along the Forgotten Mile.
Options include yoga, HIIT, functional strength training, and walking clubs.
Activities foster team spirit in a variety of ways. Kammerer’s wife Lisa is the lead instructor. She has been teaching group fitness classes for over 17 years and directs SoDel Well’s strength training and her HIIT classes.
