Yoga is a collection of physical, mental and spiritual practices that originated in ancient India… but here… with a patriotic vibe.
Bakersfield area reporter Eric J. Dockery.
Warrior 1 Yoga offers three to five classes per day and also offers discounts for veterans and first responders.
Warriors look after each other both in and out of combat, which is why the studio is called “Warrior 1 Yoga” and says it helps rehabilitate veterans.
Dana Healy, Owner and Instructor, Warrior 1 Yoga “They’re all hot classes, whether it’s Hot Flow at 5am, Ally Core at 9am, or Barre at 11:30am. We have Brazilian Butt Lift Hot Yoga at 4pm and a Yoga Dance class with BJ at 5:15pm.”
First responders and veterans can take free classes all day on Mondays.
“I’m a California Highway Patrol paramedic and I hurt my back, so I had to see this doctor all the time,” said loyal customer Larry Smith. “I went in three months ago to get my back checked. He looked at my back and said he couldn’t believe it. Now I can stand and walk, and I owe it all to this place.”
“Yoga improves my quality of life 100 percent. I get injured all the time and yoga gives me purpose, like boot camp. It’s a great program,” said Marcus Recero.
Several clients have told me that when their doctors recommended surgery for their injuries, they chose yoga instead and were amazed by the results.
Georgina Atchison said, “It’s healing because it’s the integration of the mind and the breath. It’s low impact so it’s not as hard on the body, which would normally be damaging.”
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is we need to support our veterans. We need to support their mental health, their physical health. If we’re going to send them off to war, we need to have the ability to take care of them,” Lori Collins said.
