A Chicago woman has gone missing in the Bahamas while attending a yoga retreat, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Department.
Authorities say Taylor Casey, 41, was last seen on Wednesday, June 19, on Paradise Island, just north of Nassau.
According to a Facebook group set up to help search for Casey, she had been attending a retreat to get a yoga certification but staff at the retreat center noticed she hadn’t attended class on Wednesday.
“I’m in shock right now and can’t believe I’m posting this. Taylor is such a sweet person and cares so much about her community. Please find Taylor Casey,” one user posted on the page.

The circumstances surrounding Casey’s disappearance were unclear, and police did not immediately provide a specific timeline of her interactions with her last known contact.

Casey’s disappearance came shortly after the US Embassy in the Bahamas issued a warning and travel advisory for Americans earlier this year, citing 18 murders on the islands since January 1.
“Homicides occur at all times of the day, including on the streets during daylight hours,” the warning states. “Retaliatory gang violence is the primary motive for homicides in 2024.”

The embassy had previously warned Americans traveling to the Bahamas to “exercise extreme caution” and keep a low profile in the eastern part of New Providence.
