Lenovo Yoga Slim 7X Beats Competition in Performance Benchmarks

On June 18th, the first wave of Copilot+ PCs was finally released, including the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, which could offer some serious competition to the MacBook Air M3. Laptop Magazine We have thoroughly tested Yoga Slim 7x in extensive lab tests and some interesting results have already emerged.

At $1,199, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is priced similarly to the MacBook Air M3 and features a similarly slim, sleek design. Could this Copilot+ PC also be the MacBook Air’s biggest rival?

Copilot+ PC is a new series of Windows laptops powered by Microsoft’s Copilot AI platform, which enables a range of on-device AI capabilities. The launch of the first Copilot+ PCs comes just a week after Apple unveiled its own on-device AI platform. World Development Congress 2024is coming to macOS in stages over the next few months, and with these back-to-back announcements, the stage is set for a heated AI PC showdown.

Here’s how the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x fared in our performance benchmark tests, and how it compared to the MacBook Air M3.

After months of speculation, hands-on benchmark test results for the first wave of Copilot+ PCs are finally in. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x came out strong with some impressive results in performance tests, earning an impressive score of 13750 in Geekbench 6 and completing the HandBrake video transcoding test in 5 minutes and 16 seconds.

These results are well above our premium laptop averages of 9,910 in Geekbench 6 and 8:07 in the HandBrake test. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x also performed better than the MacBook Air M3 and MacBook Pro M3.

The Yoga Slim 7x scored over 1,600 points higher than the MacBook Air M3 and over 1,700 points higher than the MacBook Pro M3 in Geekbench 6. It also finished over a minute faster than the Air in the HandBrake test, although the MacBook Pro M3 came in much closer to the Yoga Slim 7x in HandBrake, finishing just 22 seconds behind.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 13750 5:16
MacBook Air M3 (13-inch) 12087 6:32
MacBook Pro M3 (14-inch) 11968 5:38

These results hint at just how powerful the Yoga Slim 7x’s CPU is. The device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100, the lowest-end Snapdragon X Elite model, though you wouldn’t know that from the test results. If the lowest-end Snapdragon X Elite model can crush Apple’s M3 chip, the more powerful X13-80-100 and X1E-84-100 models could be groundbreaking.

These results bode well for the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, suggesting it’s an ideal laptop for creative and productivity tasks like video editing, design, and everyday web browsing. However, there was one area in our initial performance tests where it left a bit to be desired.

Where the M3 MacBook still has an advantage

Ironically, the M3 MacBook showed better gaming performance in one of the core graphics tests than the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. Macs aren’t typically considered top-tier gaming devices, but Apple has been trying to change that with its M-series chips, so this may not be surprising. The M3 chip offers significant graphics improvements over Apple’s previous chipsets, including support for ray tracing.

Of course, both MacBooks Best Gaming Laptops When it comes to gaming-specific performance, the difference between the M3 MacBook and the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is notable. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: The Gathering Storm Graphics Test:

Up next: Further testing and a full review

We’ll have more details on the gaming performance of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x in our full review soon, as we’ll be running additional graphics tests on other games. But at first glance, the MacBook Air M3 is a Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: The Gathering Storm Better than the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x: The MacBook Pro M3 scored 51 frames per second, nearly three times the score of the Yoga Slim 7x.

While the Yoga Slim 7x’s gaming performance could use some improvement, keep in mind that many games may not yet be optimized for the Arm architecture, and some games are not natively compatible with Qualcomm chips. Revealed on Samsung Korea website Don’t give up on gaming just yet, as the Yoga Slim 7x’s overall benchmark results from last week are still impressive.

Our full review will provide more detailed information on the overall gaming performance of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, and we’ll also be publishing detailed test results and reviews of all the other new Copilot+ PCs soon. Stay tuned for more test results, insights, and details. Laptop Magazine.
