MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF) — Kettering Health has officially expanded its mental health services throughout the Miami Valley.
At the Miamisburg campus, people can now participate in intensive outpatient programs, and Kettering Health says with the high demand for mental health resources, it’s important to make these services available to as many people as possible.
“One of the things we’ve noticed is that quality mental health care for patients has become very evident throughout the system,” said Julie Manuel, clinical programs manager.
Manuel said the expansion will ensure adults throughout the Miami Valley can get the help they need.
“I think having more access points for community members to be able to access mental health services is really important not only to a healthy community but to a healthy lifestyle,” Manuel said.
Tina Rezache-Logal, director of strategic initiatives and communications for ADAMHS, said this is critical as the number of suicides across the county continues to rise.
“Looking at the data released today by the Ohio Department of Health, 29 people have died by suicide in Montgomery County so far this year,” Rogal said.
Rogal said the expansion comes at an opportune time.
“Certainly, with RI International leaving our community, Montgomery County is now in a situation where we don’t have access to local emergency services,” Rogal said.
In May, ADAMHS crisis services were suspended after the company that provided them decided to cease services. Now, the intensive outpatient program can provide community services to enrollees.
“Patients will have the opportunity to meet with our providers and receive assistance with medication management, as well as individual and family sessions,” Manuel said.
Manuel said the work to build a healthier community doesn’t end here.
“We are looking to expand further across the Kettering Health System,” Manuel said.
