Alan Wake 2 is one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2023, and while Remedy initially claimed the game would only be available digitally, the team reversed course and will be releasing a physical version. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
All physical versions of Alan Wake 2
Firstly, both physical versions will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The first version will be called the Physical Deluxe Edition, will launch on October 22, 2024, and will retail for $80. That’s an incredible amount for a game that originally launched for $60, but to Remedy’s credit, there’s a great deal here. Players will not only receive the base game, Alan Wake Remastered, The Expansion Pass includes both the Night Springs and Lake House expansions, a character skin, a lantern charm for the saga, and a reversible cover sleeve – it’s pretty good value for the standard physical edition of the game.

And then there’s the limited edition from Limited Run Games. This $200 edition is Alan Wake 2 It contains the same content as the Physical Deluxe Edition, plus many other physical bonuses, including an art book with over 160 pages of concept art, a collectible embossed slipcover, a set of enamel pins, an Ocean View Hotel keychain, and a fully functioning replica of the Angel Lamp featured in the game. As is typical with Limited Run Games, this is an open pre-order, and this version of the game is scheduled to ship in December 2024; however, production delays may change when this version will be in your hands, so keep that in mind if you decide to spend a lot of money on this amazing Collector’s Edition.
One can theorize as to why Remedy decided to create a physical edition; Alan Wake 2, Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the game has never been profitable as a digital-only release before, but whatever the reason, this release is a win for physical media owners like me who value preserving video games.
