The University of Wisconsin football staff made the decision to sign Nij Davis earlier this afternoon.
Davis, a skilled tight end from Indiana, had long been a priority target for the Badgers offense. The University of Wisconsin football staff was attracted to Davis’ physical, tough play and recruited the tight end to the Badgers. Davis joined the Badgers’ recruiting class just days after completing his official visit in Madison.
University of Wisconsin football signs impressive rookie tight end Nizi Davis
Earlier this afternoon, Indiana native and University of Wisconsin football prospect Nizi Davis committed to the university. A versatile tight end, Davis stands 6’4″, weighs 215 pounds and possesses incredible speed. Tight ends have a great balance of size and natural speed for the position.
Davis took his official visit with the University of Wisconsin football staff on May 31, meeting everyone in Madison. The tight end was scheduled to visit the Kansas Jayhawks and Purdue Boiler Markers. Davis announced his commitment ahead of another scheduled official visit to another program.
The tight end predicted two predictions of joining the Wisconsin Badgers football program and he ultimately did.

If there’s one word to describe the style of play employed by the University of Wisconsin football team under head coach Luke Fickell, it’s “intense.” Wisconsin aspires to play a style of football that is relentless on the field and dominates opponents on the field. However, the Badgers struggled in that regard last season, mainly due to the tactics they used at the time not working.
Now, the University of Wisconsin football staff is going their own way and putting all their effort into a player who embodies the same style of play. Wisconsin made the decision to go all out to acquire “their guy” in Nizi Davis, and they’ve done just that. Davis isn’t afraid to put his shoulder down or make a tough play when necessary.
Additionally, Davis is an intelligent player and one who is difficult to completely write off due to the amount of ability he brings to the table on the field.
Could Davis join the University of Wisconsin football team as a freshman?
For Davis, securing playing time once he arrives on campus and joins the Badgers in a freshman year may be an easier task than initially thought. The Wisconsin football program has struggled to produce at the position in recent years and has benefited from some players overperforming, but Davis can offer the Badgers an intense style of play that no one else can offer.
Davis will start and finish blocks on offense, and he can also be an excellent receiver through the air when he’s not blocking. Given Davis’ versatility, it’s hard to imagine the tight end not being on the field early on.
