Pete Doherty has revealed he has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes while battling ongoing health issues.
The Libertines singer and guitarist, 44, has been open about his long struggle with alcohol and drugs.
In an interview with the Guardian’s Saturday magazine, doherty He said his health has improved since he stopped taking “major poisons.”
“Then you are told that alcohol, cheese and sugar are just as bad, and that you were healthier when you were on heroin.”
He admitted he was “a bit of a eater” and added: “I’m not kidding. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
“And at this point, I lack the discipline to tackle cholesterol.”
