Poncere is Wikipedia There will also be special guests with a bit more knowledge to discuss what audiences can expect. destiny.
Thanks for joining us on “Celebrating Black Excellence” So how did The Poncere Show start and come to fruition?
good, Ponceau Show is a live entertainment talk show that combines humor, art performance, and real conversations about topics that affect our mental health and wellness. Ultimately, our goal is to have real conversations about relevant topics while offering practical solutions. That’s how we started, that premise. This has been my dream for many years, and to be honest, we started this show just after the pandemic. I didn’t know how it would be received because I haven’t been nationally recognized yet, but sometimes you don’t know how things are going to be received. It’s been very successful. We got rave reviews, and I have to say that I owe it all to God. And I think the timing was just perfect. I mean, when we talk about mental health, we’re talking about how a person thinks, how they react, how they function, and how they’re really productive in our community. So, I think this is something that we need to pay more attention to, and we should have more conversations about this. I think it’s great.
Now, as I mentioned, you’re a comedian, so how do you blend comedy with your job as a talk show host?
Well, I am a licensed therapist. I am also a comedian, but to be honest, I didn’t set out to do it on purpose. I feel that laughter is a part of me. God gives each of us a talent and ability. My ability is to make people laugh and to make them think. So it’s not like I’m just like, “Okay, I’ll figure out how to do it.” Laughter is a part of me, and you’ll see it come out no matter what situation I’m in or what I do. Sometimes laughter comes out at the wrong time. But I think it’s a part of me. More importantly, laughter has many benefits for physical and mental health. If you use humor appropriately and when you’re having a serious conversation, it’s more understandable.
Why did you decide to do a live event rather than just record an episode?
I believe that each of us needs to be really mindful of what we do and how we express something. Eventually I’ll do a podcast, but I believe I should do live events because I feel like that’s part of my background. I love theater. I love interacting and engaging with an audience. I love all forms of art. So this was something that I felt like was something that God wanted me to do in the way that I’m expressing myself.
Now, my special guest today is singer, actress, and mental health advocate, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.
Yes, yes, yes! I’m so excited because Michelle Williams is not only, as you mentioned, a Grammy Award winner and a member of the legendary Destiny’s Child, but she’s also, as you mentioned, a strong mental health advocate. I finished reading her book a few weeks ago. She wrote this book. check-inand very transparent. She really writes and she’s very open about her struggles with depression, going into treatment facilities, and going through therapy. I think if you read her story, most of us will relate to it on many levels, and my team and I thought she would be a great fit for our platform. With prayer and persistence, her team was happy to have her join our show. So we’re very excited to have her back in our great city. So I’m very excited and I think when you leave the event that day, you’re going to feel inspired. You’re going to be more diligent in checking yourself out and taking care of your own mental health.
So, what else can we expect from Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams at this Ponsale show?
So, Ponceau Show It’s all about laughter and inspiration. You can expect a fun atmosphere and good energy, but here are some specific things that will happen at the show: We’ll be bringing you some hilarious, clean comedy from guest comedian Marvin Hunter. Comedy CentralWe will also have a panel of mental health experts discussing the theme “Mask Off.” We will challenge you to think differently so that you can take off your mask, be honest with yourself, be honest with others, and also live life more courageously. We are very excited about this. The audience will have a chance to interact with us, and we will answer questions on the spot. And at the end, we have a little surprise for the audience: a talent show. Someone from our area, or many people from our area, will have a chance to participate in the talent show and win some great prizes.
