“Nearly 45 percent of women over the age of 20 have some form of cardiovascular disease, but many don’t know it,” said Vanessa Maldonado, executive director of the American Heart Association Central Texas. “We want our students to know that most heart disease and stroke events are preventable through education and lifestyle changes. Move more, eat smarter, and know your numbers while you’re in school. By making small changes like these, you can reap health benefits for years to come.”
