Deep deficits require extraordinary solutions. Red: Alabama ranks 50th out of 51 states in access to mental health care, according to Mental Health America’s 2022 State of America’s Mental Health. So what could be the solution? Longleaf Recovery and Wellness, the parent company of the renowned Birmingham Recovery Center, is expanding its premier services in Birmingham with plans to open facilities in Huntsville and Dothan in 2024. Finally, Alabama is on the path to providing better and more comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services. To that community.

Founded in 2022 by Colin Harris, the Recovery Center aims to provide compassionate, comprehensive care with both inpatient and outpatient treatment for mental health, substance use, and recovery support .

Colin Harris (Longleaf Recovery and Wellness/Contributor)

As a person in recovery, Harris understands the challenges faced by people battling addiction and their families. Harris was a client of numerous addiction programs throughout the Southeast for most of his 20s. From this personal experience, Harris brings his passion for quality care to his role managing the day-to-day operations of Birmingham Recovery Center.

The Alabama native has dedicated his life and career to developing programs that give Alabamians the best chance for success. He recognized the needs currently unmet with Alabama’s limited recovery options and decided to change that with his flagship center in Birmingham.

Tucked away in the heart of Hoover, Alabama, Birmingham Recovery Center feels like a secluded oasis, giving patients the best chance for success during outpatient treatment. While the facility itself offers a pristine, comfortable, and upscale environment, Harris and his staff have maintained their values of making the price range achievable for everyone.

Expected to open in the spring, Longleaf Wellness will be located adjacent to the Birmingham Recovery Center and will build on the success of existing programs with an adapted model focused on treating mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. To go.

“For too long, our state has had very limited treatment options for mental health and substance use disorders,” Birmingham Recovery Center Director Thomas Harris said in an interview with AL.com.

Longleaf aims to change the narrative and provide Alabamians with the comprehensive care they need. As its mission statement states, “Patients are surrounded by caring staff who provide a consistent, high-quality experience.”

In addition to its Birmingham location, Longleaf Recovery is breaking ground in Huntsville and Baldwin and expects to accept new patients by summer.

Its goal is to expand quality treatment options across the state and provide people in north, central and southern Alabama with the same excellent care and access to mental health and substance use treatment. It’s about breaking down stereotypes about what it means.

Baldwin’s Place (Longleaf Recovery and Wellness/Contributed)

“Given what we know about substance use disorders and mental health, it is important to break down barriers to treatment,” says Ian Henyon, chief operating officer of Longleaf Recovery & Wellness. “We don’t want our patients to feel like they don’t have a choice. Longleaf provides even more opportunities for patients to get the help they need.”

Breaking down stereotypes, providing education, and raising awareness about addiction and mental health means that licensed professional counselors and professionals can help support families, identify addiction, identify specific substances, and provide treatment. You can find it on our blog covering topics such as types, benefits to holistic treatments, and more. approach etc.

The newly launched brand reflects the warm, inviting, comfortable and serene environment in which life has already changed. The new center name beautifully symbolizes “long-leaf pine,” which represents suppleness and strength. Longleaf pines withstand even the most difficult conditions, such as fire, and recover stronger than ever.
