Many young athletes use the summer to prepare for fall and winter sports by attending sport-specific camps and working on improving their strength and conditioning.
Henry Mayo Fitness & Health Club offers sports performance programs throughout the year tailored to specific age groups, all held at the club’s Performance Institute.
Degree-educated and certified coaches will guide each group through the proper warm-up, speed, power, strength training and stretching programs.
All Henry Mayo Fitness programs emphasize movement education, injury reduction through posture and motor control, acceleration and deceleration training, multi-directional peak speed and agility, explosive power, and proper functional strength and conditioning.
Below is a brief description of each program:
Youth Sports Performance Program
The Youth Athlete Program is designed for athletes ages 8-12. The program introduces young athletes to physical strength and sports performance training. It focuses on a “learn to train” model that emphasizes awareness, balance, movement, agility, and play through jumping, throwing and sprinting. Daily sessions are 60 minutes long and are specifically designed to keep young athletes engaged.
Junior High School Sports Performance Program
A middle school athlete program designed for athletes ages 11-14. This age group is the perfect age to begin laying the foundation for your athlete’s development. There is an emphasis on a “train-to-train” model, teaching young athletes the fundamentals of strength and conditioning in a safe environment. Each session is 60 minutes long.
High School Sports Performance Program
The High School Sports Performance Program is designed for athletes ages 14-18. The program is designed to improve athletes’ performance and give them a competitive edge. It is a more structured program that follows a “Train to Compete” model and is designed to improve strength, speed and power. Each session is 60 minutes long.
University Sports Performance Program
The Summer Collegiate Athlete Group is designed for athletes currently attending college or transitioning to the collegiate level. This is a high level program focused on preparing athletes for their next academic year. This program uses both an advanced strength training plan as well as a more intensive conditioning program. Each session is 60 minutes long and focuses on getting athletes healthy and ready for the competitive season.
