SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Dignity Health French Medical Center has been named one of Newsweek’s 2024 Best Obstetrics Hospitals.

Dignity Health French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) is pleased to announce that it has been named one of America’s Best Obstetrics Hospitals for 2024 by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world’s leading statistics portal and industry rankings provider.
“We are thrilled to be named to Newsweek’s list of ‘America’s Best Maternity Hospitals.’ This prestigious recognition is a testament to the efforts of our outstanding physicians and staff who are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to pregnant women and newborns,” said Julia Fogelson, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer at French Hospital Medical Center.
Three data sources were used in the evaluation.
● Nationwide online survey: Medical professionals and hospital administrators with knowledge of the birth process, including neonatal and perinatal physicians, nurses, and midwives, were asked to recommend the leading obstetric hospitals in the United States.
Key performance indicators for hospital care: Focus on indicators related to maternity care
● Patient survey results: Newsweek and Statista invited over 10,000 medical professionals to participate in the survey. Only 404 facilities were selected for the list of Best Maternity Hospitals of 2024.
