June 14, 2024 — Positron Corporation, a leading molecular imaging medical device company providing PET and PET-CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) imaging systems and clinical services, has announced its membership in the Cardiac PET Industry Coalition (CPIC), a national coalition of organizations at the forefront of patient care quality, advocacy and innovation to advance the field of cardiovascular PET imaging.
Positron will work with coalition founding members Bracco Diagnostics, CDL Nuclear Technologies and Siemens Healthcare to advance federal policies that improve health outcomes for cardiovascular disease patients and increase the availability of cardiac PET diagnostics across the United States.
CPIC will be a leading advocate for fair and transparent coverage and reimbursement policies that facilitate access to cardiac PET, align physicians on research opportunities, highlight the clinical and economic benefits of the procedure, and expand opportunities to educate healthcare providers and policymakers on the overall value of cardiac PET. CPIC began its work by considering the 2024 final payment rule, engaging with stakeholders in the cardiac community, and developing a 2024 policy agenda.
Adel Abdullah, President of Positron, said, “Positron welcomes the opportunity to join the Coalition and I am personally honored to serve on current and future CPIC committees focused on education, accessibility and advancement of PET modalities for cardiac research. I believe Positron’s PET/PET-CT technology and ability to offer the best value in the industry will play a key role in the adoption and growth of cardiac PET. Positron and our team look forward to supporting and contributing to the Coalition in any way possible for the future of the industry,” Abdullah concluded.
